Getting rid of Acne Scars and Marks Using Laser

By Megan Rockbelle

Having acne scars can have a strong negative impact on your social life. It can make heads turn and not in a good way. While some can understand this others simply can?t. Personally I have seen how difficult it can be having acne scars and roaming about in public.

Acne also has a bad reputation in the media too. Have you seen movies where people with acne are shunned or looked down upon. This is often shown in high school movies where the one with acne is the ugly duckling who may or may not eventually become a beautiful swan. Media discrimination based on acne is very prevalent.

One of the most popular methods in which to get rid of acne scars is by way of laser treatment. The laser treatment for acne scars is exactly as it sounds. A laser is used to burn off the skin tissue and remove the scars. Yes it can be very painful and no it is not a 100 percent success story.

As with any other procedure many questions must be asked and a ton of knowledge must be learnt on the subject. The last thing you would want is for your acne scars to appear worst or transform into something totally worst. Probably the first question asked by many about these procedures are, is it expensive?

Laser therapy costs depend on the type of scar you have on your skin. It's much more expensive when your scar area is very large and your scars are the type that are very difficult to remove. If you only have mild scarring, you probably don't even need laser treatments in the first place.

Some laser therapies like fraxel require a 3 month period minimum before results can be seen. However for some treatments it might be shorter or longer. This really depends on your skin type and how reactive it is to laser acne therapies.

Overall, the success rate of these laser treatments is over 90 percent. Of course this is amazing but don?t just say ok, that?s enough I?m convinced. There can also be many different side effects such as welling and redness on the skin area which treatment was done. While these side effects may be present there is no need to worry about any other scarring or damages done due to the laser treatment.

It is always recommended that before making any crucial decision that you check with your dermatologist first. He or she would be able to identify the level of the acne scars and could be a great help in choosing the appropriate procedure to fix your condition.

The best thing you can do right now is to do some research on the internet and read up about acne laser treatments so you can understand what types of treatments are out there and how they can really help you to get rid of acne scars. There is a lot of information online so don't be overwhelmed, you just need to know where to look!
