Do forex market trends even exist? Market trends that can easily be picked up and be used to make a large amount of money over a short period of time? Day traders will no doubt say there is no such thing - the market is 100% unpredictable over any period longer than one day. Swing traders and long term traders will disagree.

Day traders make or lose money in a very short period of time. For them a long term trend would be a price movement that lasts from 10:00 to 12:00 in the morning. Day traders often buy and sell forex within the space of a few minutes. If you consider the fact that you have to pay commissions on trading this type of market is best left to people who know what they do. However, because day trading is quite exciting one often finds that beginners are attracted to this type of market. They very often lose a lot of money within a very short period of time.

Another type of trader is the so called swing trader. Swing traders do not trade as often as day traders. They wait for a medium term trend in the market, and then either go long or short on a particular currency. They will stay in the trade for as long as the trend lasts, and try to get out just before it reverses. This of course is more of an art than a science, since there is nobody that can actually predict when the market will turn around. External factors can cause it to turn around within a matter of hours.

Day traders rely heavily on what is called "technical indicators" to help them make trading decisions. Most of them have sophisticated charting software to visually represent market movements. The simplest technical indicator is probably the moving average. If you draw a basic chart, showing when the price of the currency moves above or below the moving average, it can be used as a trading signal to buy or sell that currency. 'Trending indicators' is another group of indicators that are highly popular. Many traders swear you can in the first place pick up a trend in the market with one of these, and also predict when the trend will run out of steam.

Swing traders often use both technical analysis and what is called 'fundamental analysis' to make buying or selling decisions. Fundamental analysis looks at all the underlying economic factors that influence the movement of a currency. One example is inflation. When inflation of one country is higher than that of another, the currency of the first country will depreciate to adjust for this - all other things being equal!

Another type of analysis, used more by swing traders and long term traders is called fundamental analysis. In fundamental analysis one would try to identify 'fundamental' economic factors that will have an effect on the future price movements of a particular currency. One such example is the effect interest rates have on the value of a currency. If the interest rate goes up, it will have an effect on the value of that country's currency which could not be predicted by looking at technical indicators alone.

Three popular chart types used by traders are line charts, candlestick charts, and bar charts. Line charts simply connect closing prices over a period of time. Candlestick charts show opening and closing prices, as well as the high and low point for the day in a colored bar. Monochrome bar charts only show the opening and closing prices.

Class 2

This class of lasers includes visible light lasers that are intense enough that viewing the beam into a human eye can cause the normal "aversion response". An aversion response is when the eyelids close, or the head moves in order to avoid the light. It can occur within 0.25 seconds and includes the blink reflex time.

Class 3a

This includes those lasers emitting ultraviolet or infrared light as well as visible light. All devices within the Class 1 AEL (Allowed Exposure Level) with laser output between .18μm and 1mm fall in this class. (Common Laser pointers are class 3a laser devices.)

Class 3b Lasers

These include the same spectrum as class 3a, but increase the output levels to that of Class 2 AEL.

Class 4 Lasers

These lasers includes any power output that exceeds the Class 2 AEL. Almost every laser that produces more than 0.5 watts is in this class.

Today LCD TVs are the most popular television sets on the market - LCD stands for liquid crystal display. Manufacturers use LCD technology to produce television sets with images in color. A differentiating factor for LCD TVs is that they weigh less and are thinner compared to other televisions on the market which are of similar sizes. LCD televisions can also scale to much larger sizes than their competition. As the prices to create the LCD units have dropped, they have quickly become the number one choice in the marketplace.

LCD TVs became the most popular TV technology on the market place in 2007 and its sales compared to other televisions continued to increase. The first LCD TVs were created in the 1980s to help produce portable computers. They were going up against plasma displays for market share at the time. LCDs had a very low refresh rate so the screens often appeared blurry but they were extremely lightweight and were cost effective.

Because the refresh rates were very slow, the early LCDs could not be used for televisions. At the time, however, the market was not asking for upgrades to television technology so there was no demand for LCD TVs. When new inventions like Super VHS and DVDs came its demand increased but it was still hard to find anyone with an LDC over 30 inches wide.

Companies didn't stop innovating and in 1998 Sharp created the first LCD that was meant for television. It was only 14 inches wide! Most people couldn't afford it and it was only sold to wealthier people who wanted the latest toy available. At this time plasma continued making advances and quickly became a technology that people were willing to purchase. LCDs were trailing far behind.

Not wanting to lose out on a major opportunity, the LCD manufacturers put even more money into developing their technology and continued to produce television sets that slowly got bigger than the original 14 inches. By 2004, it was common to see a 32 inch LCD TV in many homes and people were starting to pick up 42 inch versions as well. Also in the development pipeline were much larger models to keep customers happy.

In 2006 LCD costs dropped significantly and they were now able to better compete with plasma. Plasmas were still cheaper but LCDs offered a better quality product which customers could justify paying for. By 2007 a plasma and LCD television set was the same price and everyone was gearing up for what would be an active selling season over Christmas 2007.

When the numbers were in for the 2007 holiday sales, LCDs sold more than plasma and CRTs over the same period of time. This led to Sony canceling their famous Trinitron brand in most of their major markets and they closed down the plant that manufactured them in 2008. The following year, Pioneer Electronics, one of the leaders in plasma technology, decided that it was going to stop producing their sets as well.

Further innovations in LCD allowed manufacturers to create very large screens up to 50 inches as well as very small screens. No matter what your need you could find a LCD monitor to help you. As prices continued to fall and people found new ways to use the screens it further cemented the number one spot that LCDs held in the market.
