Walt Disney World Vacation - How To Have A Blast From The First Moment

By Courtney Agnello

Planning a Walt Disney World vacation can take a ton of time and effort. So, when the day comes for you to arrive in the Happiest Place on Earth, follow these suggestions to set the tone of your cherished Walt Disney World vacation. Having fun on your arrival day can set the mood for the rest of the trip.

Got a few extra days? Try spending your first day at your resort. After hours in the car or on a plane, you need some down time and while the temptation is to go straight to theme parks, consider taking a day to recover from traveling. Traveling can really drain you, and failing to get enough rest may damage the rest of your trip as you try to catch up on sleep.

Take a dip in the pool, or explore your resort. Many of the Walt Disney World Resorts have won awards for their spectacular design and you can have a fun day just exploring your resort grounds. There are opportunities to shop and participate in activities on your first, restful day in Disney.

Sometimes, taking a rest is just not an option. Maybe you are short on time, or you just have to spend every waking moment in a Disney theme park while in Disney World. No worries, head straight for the theme parks on your first day. Be sure, though, to grab a FASTPASS for your favorite attraction so that you don't have to spend time waiting in line.

Instead of waiting in the line, you can now slow down and just take in the atmosphere of the theme park you chose. Maybe it's the smell of cotton candy on Main Street, USA in the Magic Kingdom or watching a crazy performance by the "Streetmosphere" characters at Disney's Hollywood Studios that makes your day. You can always watch the amazing fountains at Epcot or go down the nature trails at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Whatever your interest, be sure to soak it all in.

Top off your first Disney day with something that provides true Disney magic. Maybe take in a nighttime spectacular, or have dinner with Mickey Mouse at Chef Mickey's. It's an eating experience put on by the Big Cheese, himself, and it's sure to please. For a slower pace at the end of your day, try a relaxing ride on the monorail or maybe try some of the shops in Downtown Disney.

Whatever you choose to do on your first day in Walt Disney World, be sure to know that you have plenty of magic in store for the rest of your trip, and be sure to relax so that you can truly enjoy the magic of Disney.
